Sojitz and Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Group Jointly Begin Sales of Household Energy Storage Systems in Japan

Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) has concluded an exclusive agency agreement with Formosa Bio and Energy Corporation Japan (the Japanese subsidiary of Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Group) on July 5th for sales of residential energy storage systems in Japan. Sojitz Building Materials Corporation will serve as the sole sales agent, with sales to begin from fall 2022.
Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Group is a large-scale conglomerate and world-class company in the chemical and semiconductor fields. The company will leverage its technical expertise and know-how from over a decade of experience handling the manufacture and sales of battery energy storage system for industrial applications (UPS), both in Taiwan and overseas, to newly enter the residential energy storage business in Japan.
In addition to beginning of sales of battery energy storage systems for residential and industrial applications in Japanese market, Formosa Plastics Group and Sojitz have reached an agreement to jointly pursue the collection, reuse, and recycling of lithium ion batteries from various applications in Taiwan and Japan.
