Sojitz Acquires Ownership of Healthcare Service Provider in Singapore

Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) has acquired ownership of Royal Healthcare Pte. Ltd. (“Royal Healthcare”), a healthcare service provider in Singapore. Royal Healthcare is renowned for its high quality and individualized healthcare services and exceptional patient care. Moving forward, Sojitz aims to work with Royal Healthcare to implement cutting-edge medical services that meet the needs of patients.

While Singapore’s economic growth is stable, the country is facing an aging population and corresponding rise in chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. In response, there is growing demand not only for medical treatments, but also comprehensive medical care that encompasses health evaluations, preventative medicine, and medical aftercare. Against this backdrop, Singapore aims to strengthen preventative medicine and health promotion initiatives for longevity to create a society where residents can lead long, healthy lives. Additionally, Singapore is a central hub for medical tourism in Asia that gathers world-class medical professionals and healthcare infrastructure. From comprehensive health screenings to specialist consultations, Singapore is distinguished by its system for providing high-quality healthcare services.

Royal Healthcare currently operates a Multidisciplinary Specialist Medical Centre located in Singapore’s medical centre hub, Novena. Situated at Royal Square Medical Centre, Royal Healthcare serves domestic and international patients by providing primary care, including diagnostic imaging and lab diagnostics, as well as customized specialty care tailored to each individual patient by a highly experienced medical team covering over 20 medical specialties. Patients are supported by multiple specialists and a medical concierge system. The medical centre operates under the slogan of “one day, one stop, one centre” to provide patients with same-day results, offering a high level of convenience and customer satisfaction. In addition, Royal Healthcare has partnered with German company Siemens to open the first reference centre in Asia that provides access to case studies for training medical professionals. Royal Healthcare also utilizes the latest medical equipment from Siemens to offer state-of-the-art medical services.

Sojitz has acquired extensive experience in the development and operation of hospital PPP businesses,*¹ starting in 2017 with The Basaksehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital in Turkey followed by the New Footscray Hospital Project in Australia in 2021. Additionally, Sojitz concluded an MOU for a new development of a hospital in Uzbekistan in July 2024. Sojitz is working to expand hospital development projects in cooperation with government agencies including through the acquisition of an infrastructure development company in Australia through which Sojitz has acquired an additional hospital PPP business.*²　In the private healthcare sector, Sojitz will enter the specialty medical care field through this investment to meet the diversifying medical needs of developed countries such as Singapore while continuing to expand and develop its healthcare businesses in line with market growth.
