Sojitz Corporation

Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) was selected as an FY2018 constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices’ (DJSI) DJSI World and DJSI Asia Pacific listings, both internationally-recognized, CSR investment-focused* global stock price indices.
* “CSR investment-focused indices” here refers to indices used when individual or institutional investors make investment decisions with consideration for not only investment benchmarks established through financial analysis, but corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well.

・The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI)

The DJSI is a family of stock indices provided by S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC (U.S.) and RobecoSAM (Switzerland). DJSI evaluates companies for selection as constituents based on those companies’ economic, environmental, and social performance in terms of sustainability. The constituents are reviewed every September, with 317 companies selected from over 3,500 companies assessed worldwide this year. Japanese companies numbered 34 of the 317 selected.

・Reasons for Sojitz’s Selection

Sojitz was recognized for our Key Sustainability Issues (Materiality), efforts towards compliance and risk management, and improved disclosure transparency.

To “create value and prosperity” as set forth in our corporate statement, Sojitz will continue to meet stakeholders’ expectations and maximize “two types of value” through our business activities—that is, “value for Sojitz,” such as the expansion of our business foundations and sustainable growth, and “value for society,” such as economic development for countries/local communities and consideration shown for human rights and the environment.
