Sojitz Establishes Liaison Office in Casablanca, Morocco

Sojitz Corporation opened a liaison office in Casablanca, Morocco in Northern Africa. Sojitz has positioned Africa as a high-priority region in its Shine 2011 medium-term management plan and is making strategic appointments of personnel. With the opening of the liaison office in Casablanca, Sojitz has eight offices in Africa and plans to increase Japanese personnel posted to Africa from nine (at the end of March 2009) to 18 by the end of March 2010.

Sojitz has long been trading phosphorous fertilizers and agricultural produce with Morocco. Phosphorous fertilizers are exported to Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines as a part of Sojitz’s fertilizer business. Sojitz plans to develop its agricultural business in Africa and is working to expand business with Morocco positioned as a key base in its Africa strategy.
