On October 2nd, a ceremony to mark the completion of construction on Kuji Samuraihama Solar Power Plant was held in Kuji City, Iwate Prefecture. Sojitz Group is responsible for the development and operation of the plant.
Work to bring this business project to life began in November of 2013 as part of Sojitz’s efforts to support the revitalization of the Tohoku region after the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. Construction on the plant began in April 2017, and the plant commenced commercial operations in November 2019. Sojitz made great efforts to enlist the services of local companies to contribute to the construction of the plant. Even after the start of commercial operations, Sojitz is continuing to look at hiring local firms and staff to provide essential services such as snow and weed removal. The Kuji Samuraihama Solar Power Plant will provide clean electricity to meet the consumption needs of 4,000 households while also contributing to the local region.
A Shinto ceremony was held as part of the day’s proceedings
