Japanese Supplementary School Students Visit Palau International Airport
Palau International Airport, in which Sojitz is an investor, hosted a social studies field trip to Palau International Airport for 22 students from the Japanese Language School of Palau as part of the airport’s social responsibility efforts on January 25th. “Understanding the Ins and Outs of the Airport” was the day’s theme, and students were able to view and experience airport facilities, equipment, and operations not typically accessible to the public.
The students asked the airport staff questions while learning about their work as they toured the terminal facilities, the construction site where work to expand and renovate the airport terminal is underway, and the airport runway. Participating students shared their reactions following the field trip, saying “We got to see the security scanner screen, and we learned about how the machines used during check-in work,” and “The runway is so much bigger when seeing it in person, and I was surprised by how powerful the Cessna looked, even though it always seemed small to me.”
