Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) has provided 350,000 tons of carbon credits to Keiyo Gas Co., Ltd. (“Keiyo Gas”) in May 2022.

The carbon credits sold by Sojitz to Keiyo Gas have been verified by a highly reputable international third-party certifier that recognizes carbon credits for effective CO2 reducing environmental protection projects around the world.

These carbon credits are equivalent to approximately one-fourth the CO2 emissions from city gas supplied by Keiyo Gas in a year. Keiyo Gas will utilize carbon credits to provide new services, such as increasing its supply of carbon neutral energy for their clients including households.

In Sojitz’s Medium-term Management Plan 2023, which began in April 2021, the company positions the global move towards carbon neutrality as a business  opportunity. In order to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society, Sojitz will continue to expand its decarbonization-related businesses. In addition to sales of carbon credits, Sojitz will promote carbon-neutral fuels and products and will strive to create a sustainable society through its business activities.
