Sojitz Logistics Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masaatsu Hirakawa) has acquired 100% of the shares of MET Logistics Inc. (DBA: Juno Logistics; “Juno”), a growing U.S. logistics company which began operations this year from October 1st as Sojitz Logistics Corporation of America.

Juno provides a wide range of integrated international transport services (*NVOCC business) primarily to Japanese companies, and has demonstrated its strength in transport of automobile parts. Customers highly praise Juno for its meticulous, top quality logistics services, including their 24 hour emergency response service available 365 days of the year, and their proprietary freight management system which offers prompt visibility of shipment information. Going forward, the company will continue business operations under the Juno Logistics brand name.

In the context of the U.S.’s healthy economy, the car manufacturing and distribution business is experiencing year-on-year growth. Japanese automobile manufacturers are flocking to Mexico with its competitive costs as manufacturers increase the production and distribution of automobiles and auto parts geared towards the massive U.S. market. The accompanying movement of goods such as parts and materials is accelerating in the U.S. and Mexico, and this growth trend is expected to continue.

With this acquisition, Sojitz Group will establish its own logistics outpost in the U.S. and aims to expand the logistics business there while simultaneously developing logistics to connect the U.S. and Mexico. Additionally, Sojitz Group will utilize its networks to advance U.S.-Asia and U.S.-Europe transportation logistics to further expand the business.
