TOKYO(January 9, 2004)--NISSHO IWAI MERCHANDISE CORPORATION (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissho Iwai Corporation, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Kawakita) will conduct domestic sales of the 'g2g GEAR' family-use portable DVD player, which product was planned jointly with the Nissho Iwai American Corporation (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Nissho Iwai Corporation, Head Office: New York; President & CEO: Teruo Matsumura), and which has enjoyed explosive sales in the US.

This portable DVD player is an original product, for which the NISSHO IWAI MERCHANDISE CORPORATION was involved from the product development phase, including the product design. The product has already achieved significant sales results in the US under the brand name 'g2g GEAR'. From May last year, the NISSHO IWAI MERCHANDISE CORPORATION undertook sales in the Japanese market of the 5.6" monitor equipped 'TDB-568 (open price)' through volume sellers such as Sakuraya, Carrefour and Don Quijote, and also via BELLUNA mail-order. From March this year, the company will commence sales of a new 'TDB-708 series model (priced at 59,800 yen) with a 7" monitor. The NISSHO IWAI MERCHANDISE CORPORATION will strive to establish the 'g2g GEAR' brand in the portable DVD player market, while aiming to strengthen the product lineup.
