Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) and Keiyo Gas Co., Ltd. (“Keiyo Gas”) have concluded a basic agreement as of July 7th 2022, with the aim of forming a business tie-up for realizing a decarbonized society.

In April 2022, Keiyo Gas announced its “Carbon Neutral Challenge 2050”*¹ for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The plan includes three challenge initiatives: 1) providing CO2-reducing energy, products, and services to Keiyo Gas consumers, 2) developing new technologies and methods for decarbonization, and 3) collaborating internally as well as with group companies and business partners. By leveraging Sojitz’s diverse business know-how and extensive network in Japan and overseas, Keiyo Gas and Sojitz seek to deepen cooperation to achieve carbon neutrality.

This agreement was concluded to increase cooperation in decarbonization business fields. Moving forward, Sojitz and Keiyo Gas will expand the spread of carbon-neutral gas and partner in fields that provide CO2 reduction solutions through services that help to visualize CO2 emissions.

Prior to this agreement, Keiyo Gas acquired carbon credits*² from Sojitz in May 2022.*³

In Sojitz’s Medium-term Management Plan 2023, the company positions the global move towards carbon neutrality as a business opportunity. In order to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society, Sojitz will continue to expand its decarbonization-related businesses. In addition to sales of carbon credits, Sojitz will promote carbon-neutral fuels and products and strives to create a sustainable society through its business activities.
