Commercial Operations Commence at 1st Domestic Solar Power Plant in Hokkaido

A ceremony to celebrate the completion of Koshimizu Solar Power Plant, located in Koshimizu-cho, Shari-gun, Hokkaido, took place today, October 2nd, 2014. This power plant— completed on September 30th and commencing commercial operation on October 2nd—is fully owned by Mirai Power (Shari Koshimizu) Corporation (head office: Koshimizu-cho, Shari-gun, Hokkaido; president: Masakazu Hashimoto), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sojitz.
The solar power plant has a total installed capacity of 9.14 MW and is expected to generate power equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 2,800 general households. Sojitz will operate the plant utilizing their in-depth expertise developed since 2010 through operation of solar power plants in Germany. The power generated will be sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Company under the Japanese government’s ’Feed-in Tariff Scheme for Renewable Energy.’
Sojitz will continue to actively promote its renewable energy business, including its solar power projects, to contribute to the development of a sustainable society.
