Interflour Vietnam’s flour milling plant and adjoining port infrastructure
Interflour Vietnam Ltd., a leading flour mill in Vietnam in which Sojitz has invested, are operating the largest specialty grain port facilities in ASEAN and allow Panamax-class ships to berth. Sojitz is utilizing these facilities to expand its food and feed grain import and flour milling business and diversifying its business field into the compound feed business in Vietnam. We aim to provide stable supplies of food resources and contribute to the development and growth of the food industry in Vietnam and throughout Asia.
Tuna Business

Tuna farming
Consumption of tuna is increasing even as fishing restrictions are being tightened, so Sojitz entered the tuna faming business in Takashima, Nagasaki Prefecture in 2008 to provide stable supplies. We pursue food security, safety, and quality under stringent quality controls and produce high-quality tuna. We are expanding the tuna farming business and in addition to using natural fry, actively researching artificial raising of fry in cooperation with Kinki University to ensure stable supplies of food resources.
Sojitz Foods Corporation

Sojitz delivers products and services that address the demands of the retail distribution industry.
As a global food distribution company, Sojitz Foods develops products that respond accurately to customer needs. It then uses its domestic network-consisting of domestic branches and logistics capabilities-to market the products nationwide. Products marketed in this way are various types of processed products (especially private brand products), groceries, and raw materials such as sugar, etc. In addition, Sojitz Foods is developing a third-party logistics business. Quality control structures include materials traceability, proper labeling, and advanced quality control initiatives, and we are working to create a safe and secure food supply chain.
As the second pillar of the business, Sojitz Foods Corporation conducts a wide range of livestock business activities including livestock, hay and grasses with a focus on livestock products such as beef, pork and chicken meat products as well as livestock-related processed products. In all businesses, rigorous quality controls are in place to ensure the traceability of ingredients, proper labeling, and high quality management for the development of a safe and secure food supply chain.
Fertilizer Business

Sojitz produces and sells 1.8 million tons of chemical fertilizer annually through Thai Central Chemical Public Co., Ltd. in Thailand, Atlas Fertilizer Corporation in the Philippines, and Japan Vietnam Fertilizer Company in Vietnam, making Sojitz the largest chemical fertilizer producer in Southeast Asia. The increase in demand for grains is accelerating as a result of growing populations and changing dietary habits in emerging market countries, and Sojitz is supporting increased agricultural production in Southeast Asia through the stable supply of advanced compound fertilizers.
Afforestation and Woodchip Business

Sojitz encourages afforestation businesses in Vietnam and Australia by investing in local afforestation companies, distributing saplings free of charge, and other activities.
Approximately 65,000 hectares, or about the area of Lake Biwa, have been planted. We are currently making preparations for introduction in Mozambique, Africa of the afforestation and wood chip model that we established in Vietnam. Trees planted in South Africa will be processed for export to Japan at a chip plant built in Mozambique’s Maputo harbour, and the afforestation business in Mozambique will also be developed. Also, in addition to existing paper applications, supply for biomass electric power generation is expected to increase, particularly in Europe.

Sojitz Yoshimoto Ringyo Co., Ltd. operates four lumber factories in Hokkaido, which boasts abundant forest resources. Its strength lies in selling industrial-use timber products such as packing pallets, made primarily from larch lumber products whose raw material is 100% domestically produced plantation timber. The use of domestic materials for the development of forestry businesses in Japan is an issue of concern, and Sojitz Yoshimoto Ringyo is actively contributing to the use of domestic materials.

Sojitz invested in Huong Thuy Corporation, one of Vietnam’s largest food wholesalers to enter the food wholesale business in Vietnam. Many of the brands handled including milk products, beverages, sweets, and condiments are top-class brands in Vietnam. The company has a three-temperature zone logistics center and sells its products to more than 20,000 supermarkets, convenience stores, hotels, and restaurants nationwide. The company is expanding its product lineup, reinforcing logistics functions, and increasing its business to remain a leader in Vietnam’s food wholesale business.

Sojitz General Merchandise Corporation (Sojitz GMC) links domestic and overseas manufacturers with markets through combined functions centered on sales and marketing. It imports and sells high-value-added consumer products that create market needs, such as the “Admiral” brand of casual footwear, the U.S. “REEF” surf brand that is sold globally, and German “TITAN” brand suitcases. Looking ahead, Sojitz GMC will endeavor to expand sales of products developed in-house and provide high-value-added products and services that satisfy the requirements of the Japanese consumer market.

Sojitz provides integrated service from industrial park site development to management and operation and is able to provide a wide range of high added-value services tailored to needs of tenants. Cigarette Business
Sojitz has exclusive wholesale rights in Japan for imported cigarettes manufactured by Philip Morris, known for brands such as Marlboro, Lark, Philip Morris, Parliament, and Virginia Slims. These products now account for approximately a 70% share of the Japanese imported cigarette market. As Philip Morris’business partner, Sojitz will continue working to expand sales of these products.
